Hospital Emergency Department Activity: The number of emergency department visits and the number of hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable. Note a slight increase in visits for chest pain and headaches/migraines.
SOS Médecins activity: The number of SOS Médecins calls also remained stable. Note a moderate increase in the number of calls for trauma and migraines/headaches.
SARS-CoV-2 surveillance in wastewater: An overall upward trend in SARS-CoV-2 circulation levels in wastewater was observed in week 34. An increase in SARS-CoV-2 circulation can be expected following the end of summer vacation and the upcoming start of the school year.
Activity of the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP): The number of victims treated was slightly lower. A stabilization or decrease in case numbers was observed for most of the monitored causes.
Extreme heat, heat wave
None of the departments in Île-de-France were under a heatwave alert last week.
Dengue, chikungunya, Zika
252 confirmed or probable cases of imported dengue were investigated in Île-de-France.
An initial atypical case of chikungunya detected in late July was classified as locally acquired in Île-de-France, as it meets the definition criteria. There is no link to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Measles
The number of cases reported through mandatory reporting for the past four weeks has been decreasing. No cases have been reported, and no emergency room visits for measles have been recorded over the past two weeks.
Pertussis
There was a decrease in SOS Médecins consultations and a decrease in emergency department visits for pertussis in week 34 compared to the previous week.
