COVID-19 and Winter Illnesses in the Hauts-de-France Region. Update as of February 17, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Circulation of SARS-CoV-2 has been declining for the third consecutive week across all age groups and throughout the region

  • Improvement in indicators regarding the impact on healthcare services, both in outpatient settings and in hospitals, with a decrease in the prevalence of hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection

  • Continued vigilance is warranted due to the ongoing high level of viral circulation and the risk of an epidemic resurgence following the winter break, as school and work activities resume starting next week

Bronchiolitis

  • Non-epidemic phase; activity is increasing in outpatient settings and continues to decline in hospitals, at a moderate level

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses

  • Activity remains pre-epidemic

  • Seeking medical care for these syndromes is decreasing

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Activity levels rising in emergency departments and primary care, particularly among children under 5

  • Significant community circulation of rotavirus

All-cause mortality

  • Since S48-2021, excess mortality from all causes has been observed among those aged 65 and older
