Key Points

Dengue

  • Over the past two weeks (W22 and W23), overall dengue activity in the region was low, with an average of 5 confirmed cases per week.

Malaria

  • A total of 73 malaria cases have been reported since the beginning of the year. Malaria activity declined between January and May (from 27 to 10 cases per month).

Influenza

  • The seasonal influenza epidemic was declared in W52-2024, and the peak was reached in February. After a decline in indicators, an upward trend has been observed since the beginning of May and has intensified over the past two weeks, confirming the resurgence of the influenza epidemic in French Guiana.

Bronchiolitis

  • Activity related to bronchiolitis in infants has also been on the rise since early May, reaching a level similar to that observed during epidemic periods.

Diarrhea

  • Activity has been generally stable in remote communities (CDPS and local hospitals) and along the coast over the past two weeks.
