Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in French Guiana. Update as of April 20, 2020.

Epidemiological Summary

The epidemic situation continues in the Maroni sector (from Apatou to Maripasoula) and in the Kourou sector (from Macouria to Iracoubo).
In the Cayenne Island sector (Cayenne, Rémire-Montjoly, Matoury) and the Western Coast sector (Saint Laurent, Mana, Javouhey, Awala), viral circulation has intensified in recent weeks. On May 14, the Committee on Infectious and Emerging Diseases (CMIE) approved the proposal to move to Phase 4 of the Psage dengue*: “epidemic” for these two sectors.

The occurrence of several clustered cases in Saint Georges and Camopi in recent weeks led the CMIE to approve the proposal to move to Phase 2 of the Psage dengue*: “epidemic foci” for the Oyapock sector.

In the rest of the territory, the situation remains calm and continues to correspond to Phase 1 of the Psage* dengue: “sporadic cases.”
