Health Monitoring in the Grand-Est Region. Update as of October 14, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 40 of 2022, increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in the Grand Est region.

  • Increased incidence across all age groups except for those aged 0–9 and 10–19. The increase is more pronounced among older age groups.

  • A sharp increase in the number of new hospitalizations across all departments, as well as in critical care admissions, compared to week 39 of 2022.

  • Increase in the number of emergency room visits.

  • Increase in the number of Covid-19 consultations for SOS Médecins associations in the region.

  • Increase in incidence rates in all departments of the region except the Ardennes, where it remains stable. The Vosges have the highest incidence rate in the region, with 1,026 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Monkeypox

  • 100 cases have been reported in the Grand Est region as of 10/11/22.

Bronchiolitis

  • OSCOUR®: In week 40 of 2022, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was 7%, or 103* visits; this figure is up from the previous week. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 21% in week 40 of 2022.

  • SOS Médecins: In week 40 of 2022, the proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 5%, stable compared to week 39 of 2022.

  • Virology data: circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) remains low compared to other respiratory viruses, particularly rhinoviruses, enteroviruses, and parainfluenza viruses.

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses

  • OSCOUR®: The number of emergency department visits for influenza-like illness, all ages, increased slightly in week 40 of 2022 compared to the previous week (34* versus 26 in week 39 of 2022) and accounts for less than 1% of activity.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for flu-like illness, all ages, has increased slightly compared to the previous week (129 consultations in week 40-2022 versus 85 in week 39-2022), representing 1.9% of activity.

  • Virology data: influenza virus circulation remains very low in week 40-2022.
