Key Points

COVID-19

The rapid rise in the incidence rate continues in week 03-2022, reaching 3,503 new cases per 100,000 residents. Viral circulation is increasing across all age groups. The highest incidence rates are recorded in the youngest age groups (0–9 years and 10–19 years), with incidence rates exceeding 5,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This increase is spreading to other age groups, with incidence rates rising significantly among older individuals. The positivity rate is also rising, reaching 29.2%, while the testing rate remains stable compared to week S02-2022.

Bronchiolitis

  • OSCOUR: In week 03-2022, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was 7%, a level stable compared to the previous week. There were 122 emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in week 03-2022, compared to 110 in week 02-2022. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 17% in week 03-2022, a level stable compared to the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins: In week 03-2022, the share of SOS Médecins’ activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 4%, down from week 02-2022.

Flu

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for flu-like illness, across all age groups, remained stable compared to the previous week (108 consultations in week 03-2022, compared to 106 in week 02-2022 and 132 in week 01-2022), representing 2% of activity. No hospitalizations for flu-like symptoms have been reported following an SOS Médecins consultation since the beginning of the year.

  • Oscour®: The number of consultations for influenza-like illness, all ages, is stable compared to the previous week (108 consultations in week S03-2022, compared to 106 in S02-2022 and 132 in S01-2022), representing 2% of activity. No hospitalizations for flu-like symptoms following a consultation with SOS Médecins have been observed since the beginning of the year.

Gastroenteritis

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for gastroenteritis (GEA), all ages, continued to decrease in week 03-2022 compared to week 02-2022 (464 consultations versus 516 in week 02-2022), representing 8% of activity (versus 9% in week 02-2022). There were 3 hospitalizations for gastroenteritis following an SOS Médecins consultation in week 03-2022 (compared to no hospitalizations in week 02-2022). Conversely, note an increase in the consultation rate for children under 5 years of age.

  • Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for GEA, across all ages, increased in week 03-2022 compared to week 02-2022 (457 visits compared to 420 in week 02-2022), representing a share of activity that remains stable at around 2% (identical to week 02-2022). The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is 2% (stable). This increase affects children under 5 years of age.
