COVID-19
COVID-19: The rapid rise in the incidence rate that began in week 52 of 2021 has stabilized in week 4 of 2022 at a high level, standing at 3,541 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Viral circulation has stabilized across all age groups from 0 to 59 years, but is increasing among those aged 60 and older. The highest incidence rates continue to be recorded in the youngest age groups (0–9 years and 10–19 years), with incidence rates of 5,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants or higher. This circulation among the youngest age groups is spreading to other age groups, with incidence rates increasing among older age groups. The positivity rate continues to rise, reaching 40.4% among 10- to 19-year-olds, while the testing rate remains stable compared to week S03-2022.
Bronchiolitis
SOS Médecins: In week 04-2022, the proportion of SOS Médecins’ activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 5%, a slight increase compared to week 03-2022.
OSCOUR®: In week 04-2022, the proportion of emergency department activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was 5%, a decrease compared to the previous week (Figure 4). There were 81 emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in week 04-2022, compared to 121 in week 03-2022. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit was 9% in week 04-2022, a decrease compared to the previous week.
Influenza
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for influenza-like illness, across all age groups, is slightly lower than the previous week (91 consultations in week S04-2022, compared to 108 in S03-2022 and 106 in S02-2022), representing 2% of total activity. No hospitalizations for flu-like symptoms have been reported following an SOS Médecins consultation since the beginning of the year.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for influenza-like illness, all ages, remained stable in week S04-2022 compared to the previous week (39 versus 44 in S03-2022), representing 0.2% of activity. The proportion of hospitalizations for influenza-like illness among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is approximately 0.1%.
Gastroenteritis
SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for acute gastroenteritis (AGI), across all age groups, increased slightly in week 04-2022 compared to week 03-2022 (501 consultations versus 464 in week 03-2022), representing 9% of activity (versus 8% in week 03-2022). There were 5 hospitalizations for gastroenteritis following an SOS Médecins consultation in week 04-2022 (compared to 3 hospitalizations in week 03-2022). This increase affects children under 5 years of age.
Oscour®: The number of emergency department visits for GEA, across all ages, continued to rise in week 04-2022 compared to week 03-2022 (512 visits compared to 457 in week 03-2022), representing a share of activity that remains stable at around 2% (identical to week 03-2022). The proportion of hospitalizations for GEA among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit is 2% (stable). This increase affects children under 5 years of age.
