Epidemiological Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Update as of November 27, 2014.

Highlights

  • Flu activity is low in the emergency departments of Lorraine and among the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle.

  • At the regional level, an increase in bronchiolitis-related activity has been observed among children under 2 years of age, both in emergency departments and at the SOS Médecins association. Nationally, bronchiolitis-related activity in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins associations has risen sharply since week 46, confirming the start of the epidemic season.

  • The number of cases of gastroenteritis and diarrhea corresponds to expected levels outside the epidemic season.

  • Since October 1, 15 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have been reported in Lorraine, which is higher than what is usually observed during the same period. The majority of cases occurred in the home, but two cases occurred in public facilities. It is therefore important to implement prevention guidelines at the start of the heating season.
