Epidemiological Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Update as of April 3, 2014.

Key Highlights

  • The peak of the flu epidemic was reached in week 7, and a decline in consultations for flu-like illness is observed in mainland France and in Lorraine.

  • Both nationally and regionally, influenza activity remains low this season compared to the 2012-2013 winter season. The circulating influenza viruses are type A.

  • In week 13, in Lorraine, the number of positive test results for both the influenza virus and RSV dropped back to a very low level.

  • Bronchiolitis activity has decreased over the past two weeks in Lorraine.

  • Gastroenteritis activity remains steady in Lorraine. Rotavirus remains one of the main circulating enteric viruses over the past few weeks.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network, the four departments of Lorraine are at very high risk for birch pollen allergies.
