Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of October 24, 2013.
Key Facts
Between July 1 and October 6, 2013, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) recorded 546 cases of mushroom poisoning in mainland France, including one severe case in an 18-month-old child who required a liver transplant.
This bulletin concludes the asthma surveillance report. For the SOS Médecins association in Strasbourg, asthma-related activity was particularly high from mid-April (week 16) to the end of May (week 22) and then in week 40. Regarding the Mulhouse association, only a sharp increase in week 39 was observed since early April.
Bronchiolitis-related activity has remained low over the past few weeks for both associations in the region.
The number of cases of gastroenteritis and diarrhea diagnosed by the region’s associations has remained stable over the past few weeks, but the proportion of activity related to these conditions has increased for the Strasbourg association. Gastroenteritis was thus the most frequently diagnosed condition for this association in weeks 41 and 42.
