Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of January 9, 2014.

Highlights

  • Flu activity has remained low in the Alsace region and mainland France over the past few weeks.

  • Since October 1, the majority of influenza viruses identified in mainland France and Alsace have been type A.

  • A marked increase in bronchiolitis has been observed in Alsace since late December. In mainland France, the number of visits to hospital emergency departments for bronchiolitis in infants began to decline in week 01.

  • Since mid-December, the number of gastroenteritis diagnoses has been high for both SOS Médecins associations in the region. According to data from the Sentinelles Network, the national incidence of acute diarrhea remains below the epidemic threshold for the time being.
