COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Grand Est Region as of April 22, 2021
Key Points
In week 15 of 2021, the second week of the third lockdown, the number of new cases declined slightly (15,884 new cases compared to 16,347 new cases in week 13 of 2021). This slight decrease comes as the number of people tested has fallen sharply since week 14 of 2021 (227,136 people in week 15 of 2021 compared to 324,067 in week 13 of 2021), primarily due to the closure of medical testing laboratories on Monday, April 5 (Easter Monday) in week 14-21 and secondly due to the suspension of routine testing conducted by the Ministry of Education following the closure of schools since week 14-21 (the decline in testing activity is thus very sharp among those aged 0–9 and 10–19).
