Reportable Diseases in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. Public Health Bulletin: 2022 Report.

Key Points

The year 2022 was marked by several events:

  • 50 cases of monkeypox, an orthopoxvirus that had not previously circulated in the country. In 2022, a global outbreak occurred, primarily among men who have sex with men (MSM), transmitted through person-to-person contact. Approximately 5,000 cases were identified in France in 2022.

  • 12 cases of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD), half of which were serotype Y: In 2020 and 2021, due to public health measures implemented as part of the fight against COVID-19, IMD had seen a sharp decline prior to 2022.
