Key Points
Since September 30, 2024, 112 clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) have occurred in nursing homes for the elderly (EHPAD) and have been reported via the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s national reporting portal (https://signalement.social-sante.gouv.fr/).
Among all these outbreaks, etiological investigations were conducted on 101 (90%) outbreaks:
COVID-19: Responsible for 55 outbreaks, 45 of which were linked solely to SARS-CoV-2.
Influenza: Involved in 30 episodes, 20 of which were caused solely by an influenza virus.
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV): Present in 3 episodes, and the sole cause in 2 of them.
In 17 episodes, multiple viruses were identified simultaneously.
