Key Points

  • An early heat wave that began in western France and is spreading eastward and northward across the region. The early onset of this heat wave is an aggravating factor (occurring at the end of Ramadan, during the school and university year).

  • First orange heat wave alert (in Ille-et-Vilaine) recorded in Brittany since the implementation of the National Heat Wave Plan.

  • Increase in heat-related medical consultations at SOS Médecins and, to a lesser extent, in emergency room visits in Ille-et-Vilaine and Finistère.

  • 40% (4 out of 10) of emergency room visits were followed by hospitalization.
