Asthma / Bronchiolitis

A national update on asthma is available as of October 3. Decrease in visits to community and hospital emergency departments. Hospitalizations have stabilized following visits to emergency departments. In Brittany, although on the decline, visits to community and hospital emergency departments for asthma remain high.This coincides with an increase in the circulation of rhinoviruses and enteroviruses identified in respiratory samples analyzed at the Virology Laboratory of the Brest University Hospital. No samples tested positive for respiratory syncytial virus, despite the emergence of the first sporadic cases of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age (data not shown).

Launch of the seasonal flu vaccination campaign

The seasonal flu vaccination campaign for the 2017–2018 season will begin on October 6, 2017, and is expected to continue through January 31, 2018.
