Hepatitis A Virus Infections - The Situation in Brittany Since February 2017, several countries in Europe have observed a significant increase in the number of hepatitis A cases, particularly affecting men who have sex with men.In France, from January 1 to June 15, 2017, 896 cases were reported, representing a national increase of approximately 257% compared to the same period in 2016.

Enterovirus Meningitis A sharp increase in emergency department visits for enterovirus meningitis (12 cases in week 24 versus 22 in week 25), with activity levels exceeding seasonal averages. High viral circulation of enteroviruses identified in cerebrospinal fluid samples analyzed at the Virology Laboratories of the Brest University Hospital and the Rennes University Hospital.

Heat-related illnesses: With no heat-related weather alerts in week 26, the indicators tracked for heat-related illnesses have returned to baseline levels across all sources. Météo-France does not forecast a heat wave in the region over the next 5 days, despite a predicted rise in temperatures. Furthermore, there is high activity in emergency rooms and SOS Médecins for insect bites and isolated cases of fever. (Data not shown).
