As of August 11, 4,403 confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been diagnosed through laboratory testing in Brittany. In week 32, 478 new confirmed cases were identified via PCR testing. Despite the increase in the number of new cases in week 32, epidemiological indicators of severity (number of hospitalizations following a visit to the emergency department for suspected coronavirus and number of hospitalizations in intensive care or resuscitation units following a visit to the emergency department for coronavirus) remain stable in the region.

Heat-related illness

A heat wave is currently underway in France; the event is expected to end no earlier than Thursday, August 13, 2020, nationwide.
Brittany is not affected by this heat wave, and only the department of Ille-et-Vilaine is under a yellow alert.
