Key Points
COVID-19
Decrease in the incidence rate (IR) and testing rate (TR), accompanied by a slight increase in the positivity rate (PR). The regional IR fell from 1,638.3 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 14 to 1,290.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 15. Decrease in IRs across all 4 departments: -454 points in Côtes d’Armor, -298 points in Finistère, -363 points in Ille-et-Vilaine, and -304 points in Morbihan.
Decrease in emergency room visits and slight increase in calls to SOS Médecins. Estimated vaccination coverage by place of residence reached 84.5% for one dose and 83.7% for a full course.
Bronchiolitis
Non-epidemic activity.
Oscour®: increased activity with 41 emergency room visits in S15. Bronchiolitis accounts for more than 4.5% of diagnoses made in emergency rooms among children under 2 years of age, and 37% of these visits resulted in hospitalization.
SOS Médecins: slight increase in activity with 11 consultations in Week 15. Bronchiolitis accounts for 5.8% of diagnoses in children under 2 years of age.
Virology data: decrease in the rate of RSV-positive samples at the Virology Laboratory of the Brest University Hospital (CHRU) to 0.2% (1/590). Stability in the rate of positive samples at the Virology Laboratory of the Rennes University Hospital (CHU) at 0.5% (2/379).
Acute gastroenteritis
Moderate activity, higher than in previous years.
Oscour®: A decrease in emergency department activity across all age groups was observed in Week 15, with 233 visits (a 21.8% decrease compared to Week 14). Gastroenteritis accounted for 8.7% of visits among children under 5 years of age (compared to 1.4% across all age groups).
SOS Médecins: A decrease in the number of SOS Médecins consultations for gastroenteritis was observed, with 166 consultations for this diagnosis in Week 15. Across all age groups, gastroenteritis accounted for 6.2% of total SOS Médecins activity and 10.1% among children under 5.
Sentinelles Network: low activity in week 15; the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice consultations was estimated at 76 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [33; 119]) (unconsolidated data).
Virology data: According to data from the Virology Laboratory at the Brest University Hospital, viral circulation of Rotavirus (3/19), Adenovirus (1/19), and Norovirus (4/16). According to data from the Virology Laboratory at the Rennes University Hospital, Rotavirus (6/31), Adenovirus (1/31), and Norovirus (4/16) were circulating.
Influenza and influenza-like illness
Epidemic activity. Decrease in calls to SOS Médecins and visits to emergency departments; the epidemic peak has passed at the regional level.
Oscour®: Third consecutive week of declining influenza activity in emergency departments, with 221 visits in Week 15 across all age groups (a 6.4% decrease compared to Week 14). This activity accounts for 1.3% of total emergency department activity in the region.
SOS Médecins: Second consecutive week of decline in flu-related activity at SOS Médecins, with 363 consultations, a decrease of 30.2% compared to Week 14. This activity accounts for 13.5% of the total activity of SOS Médecins associations in the region.
Severe influenza in intensive care: since November 2021, 21 cases of influenza have been admitted to intensive care, including 1 in Week 15 (16 type A, including 1 A(H3N2), 5 untyped).
Sentinel Network: high activity in week 15; the incidence rate of acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases seen in general practice consultations was estimated at 472 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [351; 593]) (unconsolidated data).
Virology data: Decrease in influenza A virus circulation according to data from the Virology Laboratory at Brest University Hospital (positivity rate = 5.1%, 99/1,923) and according to data from the Virology Laboratory at Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate = 15.3%, 58/379).
