Mental Health in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region. Bimonthly Epidemiological Update, June 28, 2022.
Key Points
Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visit Indicators:
For adults aged 18 and older, the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues from January to May 2022 remained stable compared to the number recorded during the same period in 2021. The monthly share of visits from January to May 2022 was lower than that observed in 2021 and 2018–2020.
Among children (under 18 years of age), the monthly number of emergency department visits for mental health issues from January to May 2022 is generally higher than the number recorded during the same period in previous years. The monthly activity rate in 2022 is lower than that of 2021 and higher than that of 2018–2020.
A slight increase in emergency department visits for psychotic disorders was observed in May 2022, particularly among those under 18. However, the numbers are low.
Other mental health monitoring indicators from the Oscour® network show no significant changes.
The decline in the use of emergency care during lockdown periods in 2020 (weeks 12 to 19 – March to May) and 2021 (weeks 44 to 51 – late October to mid-December) calls for caution in interpreting trends.
