Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of September 17, 2021

Key Points

COVID-19

  • At the regional level: After reaching 138 cases per 105 residents in the second week of August (Week 32, 2021), the regional incidence rate has continued to decline for the fourth consecutive week. With a 24% decrease, the regional incidence rate is now 64 per 105 residents and remains below the national incidence rate (99 per 105 residents in W36). While the testing rate is stabilizing, there is a general decline in the positivity rate across all age groups. As schools reopen, children under 14 show a sharply declining but still high positivity rate (5.5% in Week 36 vs. 9.6% in Week 35), which is largely due to a 60% increase in the testing rate specific to this age group (1,720 per 105 inhabitants in Week 36 vs. 1,073 per 105 inhabitants in Week 35).

  • The number of new hospitalizations and new admissions to intensive care has been stable for the past four weeks. Reports of outbreaks from medical-social institutions (ESMS) also appear to be stabilizing.

  • At the departmental level: Departmental incidence rates range from 40.1 per 105 inhabitants (Nièvre) to 142.7 per 105 inhabitants (Belfort), the latter being the only department with an incidence rate exceeding 100 per 105 inhabitants.
