Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of May 5, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
The decline in SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation is accelerating in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, but certain indicators remain at high levels. Regional incidence and positivity rates are falling for the third consecutive week (though slightly higher than national rates), amid a decrease in testing due to school holidays.
The epidemic’s impact on hospital activity remains significant. Despite a decline in emergency care visits and a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations, the region has one of the highest rates of new hospitalizations in mainland France, and the rate of new admissions to critical care remains stable. The number of deaths in hospitals is down this week.
Acute Gastroenteritis
The rate of visits for gastroenteritis in emergency departments shows a downward trend this week but remains above the levels of the previous two seasons.
Influenza
The region has remained in an epidemic phase since Week 10.
The decline in the number of flu-like illness cases treated in emergency departments and by SOS Médecin associations continues.
No new severe cases of influenza were reported by the intensive care unit sentinel network this week (a total of 24 ICU admissions since the end of 2021).
A new outbreak of acute respiratory infection (ARI) in a community setting (9 ongoing outbreaks out of 33 reported since September 1, 2021. Of the reported cases, 9 are linked to influenza).
