Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of May 12, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
The decline in SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation continues in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, but regional incidence rates (400 per 100,000) and positivity rates (24%) remain high.
The epidemic continues to have a significant impact on hospital activity. Despite a decline in emergency care visits and a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations (both general and critical care), the region has one of the highest rates of new hospitalizations in mainland France. The number of deaths in hospitals has remained stable this week.
Influenza
The region is entering the post-epidemic phase this week.
The decline in the number of flu-like illness cases treated in emergency departments and by SOS Médecins associations continues (Figures 1 and 2). This trend should be interpreted with caution due to a lack of data transmission from SOS Médecins for two out of four associations since February 16, 2022.
No new severe cases of influenza were reported by the intensive care unit sentinel network this week (a total of 24 ICU admissions since late 2021).
No new outbreaks of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in group settings this week (9 ongoing outbreaks out of 33 reported since September 1, 2021. Among the reports, 9 are linked to influenza).
Acute gastroenteritis
The rate of gastroenteritis cases in emergency departments has stabilized at around 1% but remains above the levels of the previous two seasons.
