Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of March 19, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
Epidemiological indicators of the COVID-19 pandemic show that SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate at high levels. The decline in indicators among older adults suggests that vaccination and the measures implemented are having an impact. It is necessary to maintain prevention and social distancing measures, including among vaccinated individuals, given the identification of new variants.
Influenza
Flu-related activity at SOS Médecins and emergency departments remains low. This season, due to the active circulation of SARS-CoV-2, surveillance of flu cases admitted to intensive care has been expanded to include severe cases of COVID-19. No severe cases of flu have been reported in the region by intensive care units at this time.
Bronchiolitis
Activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age remains in the pre-epidemic phase this week. There has been a marked increase in activity among SOS Médecins associations this week, as well as, to a lesser extent, in emergency departments.
Gastroenteritis
Activity at SOS Médecins clinics is at last year’s levels for this time of year, whereas it had been below those levels until now. Activity in emergency departments for gastroenteritis has been increasing for the past 4 weeks.
