Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of March 12, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
Epidemiological indicators of the COVID-19 pandemic show that SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate at high levels, with a prolonged impact on mortality. The decline in indicators among the oldest age groups suggests that vaccination and the measures implemented are having an impact. It is necessary to maintain prevention and distancing measures, including among vaccinated individuals, given the identification of new variants.
Influenza
Flu-related activity at SOS Médecins and emergency departments remains low. This season, due to the active circulation of SARS-CoV-2, surveillance of flu cases admitted to intensive care has been expanded to include severe cases of COVID-19. No severe flu cases have currently been reported in the region by intensive care units.
Bronchiolitis
Activity related to bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age has been in the pre-epidemic phase since last week. An upward trend in activity at emergency departments and SOS Médecins has been observed for several weeks.
Flu
Activity at SOS Médecins and emergency departments for gastroenteritis has been increasing for the past 3 weeks, though it remains below the trends observed during the same period in the previous two seasons for emergency departments.
