Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of January 7, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
A very sharp increase in SARS-CoV-2 transmission in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté this week.
The circulation of SARS-CoV-2 continues to rise sharply this week. All age groups are affected by this trend, except for those aged 65 and older (stable) and those under 15 (decrease coinciding with a drop in testing rates). The positivity rate is very high (approximately 18%) among those aged 15–44.
SARS-CoV-2 is circulating at high levels throughout the region, with incidence rates ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 per 100,000 depending on the department. Testing and positivity rates are rising very sharply. Positivity rates exceed 15% in all departments.
Influenza
Transition to the pre-epidemic phase. SOS Médecins activity related to influenza is stable, while emergency department activity is increasing. Emergency department activity levels remain comparable to the 2019–2020 season (the pre-COVID season).
No new severe cases of influenza reported by the intensive care unit sentinel network (a total of 2 cases admitted to intensive care: 1 in S49 and 1 in S50).
Bronchiolitis
The decline in activity is confirmed at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments but remains at a high level
The epidemic appears comparable to 2019, whereas in 2020 it was impacted by the circulation of COVID-19
Acute gastroenteritis
Activity at SOS Médecins is stable and remains at levels comparable to previous years
The rate of emergency department visits for gastroenteritis has decreased slightly this week and is within the range observed during the 2019-2020 season
