Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of December 10, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation in the BFC region has been increasing for the 8th consecutive week (TI=486/100,000 inhabitants, up 57%; TP=7.7%, up 1.3 percentage points), mirroring the trend observed nationwide. While a notable decline in testing activity was observed in Week 42 of 2021 following the implementation of the new test reimbursement policy, the testing rate has risen again for the fourth consecutive week (+31%). The weekly number of people testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rise, reaching 13,513 cases in Week 48 (+4,922 cases compared to Week 47 of 2021, or +57%). All age groups are affected by this upward trend in indicators. The under-15 age group has the highest incidence rate (778 per 100,000 population, +65%) but also the highest testing activity. With a testing rate that has increased relatively little over the past 4 weeks (unlike other age groups), the rise in incidence is less pronounced among those aged 65 and older (253 per 100,000 population, +37%). The highest positivity rate is found among those aged 25–44 (9.12%) and among those aged 45–64 (9.05%).
SARS-CoV-2 is circulating very actively throughout the region. Jura (661 per 100,000 inhabitants), Doubs (630 per 100,000 inhabitants), Saône-et-Loire (535 per 100,000 inhabitants), and the Territoire de Belfort (487 per 100,000 inhabitants) have the highest incidence rates. The sharpest increases in incidence rates are observed in Côte-d’Or (+81%), Yonne (+70%), and Doubs (+65%). In Jura, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, and the Territoire de Belfort, the incidence rates reached this summer have now been exceeded, as have the incidence thresholds reached at the peak of the third wave (early April 2021).
Influenza
SOS Médecins’ flu-related activity cannot be interpreted due to a labor strike that began in week 47. Activity in the region’s emergency departments has been stable and has slightly exceeded the levels of the previous two years for the past three weeks. No severe cases of flu have been reported by any sentinel intensive care unit.
Bronchiolitis
SOS Médecins activity cannot be interpreted due to a labor dispute that began in week 47. Emergency department activity continues to rise and remains higher than in the two previous seasons during the same period.
Gastroenteritis
SOS Médecins activity cannot be interpreted due to a labor dispute that began in week 47. The rate of emergency department visits for gastroenteritis continues to rise, remaining above the levels observed during the same period in the two previous seasons.
