Heat Wave and Health Alert System in Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. Update as of August 26, 2017.

Three departments are under an orange heat wave alert and two departments are under a yellow heat wave alert.

On August 25, 2017, no increased activity related to the heat was reported, either by emergency services or by SOS Médecins associations. Thus, in emergency departments, heat-related conditions accounted for 0.26% of all visits, across all causes and age groups. The majority of visits occurred in departments under an orange alert (Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, and Rhône).

For yesterday (August 25):

  • 10 emergency room visits for heat-related conditions across the entire region; these visits primarily involved people over the age of 75 (60%). Twenty percent were children under 15, and 20% were adults between 45 and 74 years old. Sixty percent of emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses were followed by hospitalization.

  • No SOS Médecins consultations for heat-related illnesses were reported.
