Situation Analysis

All epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue fever in Martinique point to the continuation of the epidemic. The outbreak has now been ongoing for 7 weeks. During the last week of August and the first week of September, dengue transmission became widespread, as cases were reported in all municipalities of Martinique. No unusual severity of this epidemic has been observed to date. The predominance of DENV-2, observed since early 2013, continued in August. This serotype was responsible for the 2007 epidemic. The situation corresponds to Phase 4, Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remember the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
