Situation Analysis

Flu-like Illnesses: Flu indicators have been rising since mid-September in community medical practice and have exceeded thresholds for four consecutive weeks. Several influenza viruses have been isolated in hospitals and in community healthcare settings, with the majority being the AH3N2 virus (68%), the B/Victoria lineage virus (27%), and, to a lesser extent, the B/Yamagata lineage virus (5%). The seasonal influenza epidemic is intensifying. The recommendation to vaccinate vulnerable individuals remains in effect.

Gastroenteritis: Activity related to gastroenteritis remains above expected seasonal levels. The outbreak continues.

Bronchiolitis: Surveillance indicators from primary care show a downward trend, and the outbreak appears to be leveling off. Since the start of the outbreak, 25 severe cases of bronchiolitis requiring admission to the pediatric intensive care unit at CHUM have been reported.

Chickenpox: The epidemiological situation regarding chickenpox in Martinique does not indicate an epidemic.
