Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
The flu epidemic has been ongoing in Martinique for five weeks and appears to be accelerating. The incidence of the disease in week 2013-04 was 637 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a figure close to that observed in mainland France. An Influenza A virus has been identified by the virology laboratory at Martinique University Hospital since the beginning of 2013. To limit the risk of transmission, wash your hands several times a day with soap or use a hand sanitizer, and when you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve or a disposable tissue. If you have flu-like symptoms, call your primary care physician and contact 15 only in case of an emergency.
