Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in Martinique. Update as of July 24, 2013.

Situation Analysis

Between July 8 and 21, epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue fever have once again begun to rise in Martinique; the number of confirmed cases and the positivity rate of requests for laboratory confirmation exceed the maximum values expected for the season. Dengue outbreaks, which are increasing in number, are occurring in several municipalities across Martinique. The Expert Committee on Emerging Infectious Diseases, which met on July 18, assessed that the epidemiological situation corresponds to Phase 2, Level 2 of the PSAGE dengue protocol: active circulation of the virus, and called for intensified surveillance, vector control, and community mobilization efforts.
