Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in Martinique. Update as of August 29, 2013.
Situation Analysis
All epidemiological surveillance indicators for dengue in Martinique point to the epidemic continuing. During the third and fourth weeks of August, dengue transmission tended to become widespread, as it was observed in 29 out of 34 municipalities, mainly located in central and southern Martinique. No particular severity associated with this epidemic has been observed to date. The predominance of DENV-2, observed since early 2013, continues in August. This serotype was responsible for the 2007 epidemic. The situation corresponds to Phase 4 Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to remember the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
