Situation Analysis

All epidemiological surveillance indicators point to the continuation of the epidemic, but it is currently in a phase of slow decline. The increase in the weekly number of clinically suggestive cases over the past three weeks is not confirmed by other indicators and may be linked to the emergence of chikungunya. This epidemic remains widespread throughout mainland Guadeloupe and the nearby islands. The predominance of DENV-4, observed since June, continues to this day. This serotype had not circulated in Guadeloupe since the 2005 epidemic. The situation still corresponds to Phase 4 Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed outbreak). Given the epidemiological situation of co-circulation of the dengue and chikungunya viruses, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
