Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in French Guiana. Update as of March 14, 2014.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
During January and February 2014, the number of clinically suspected dengue cases and the number of probable or confirmed dengue cases remained at levels consistent with those typically observed during the inter-epidemic period. The DEN-1, DEN-2, and DEN-4 serotypes were detected during this period. In addition, outbreaks were identified in the municipalities of Grand-Santi, Rémire-Montjoly, and Kourou. No active outbreaks were identified during the first week of March. The epidemiological situation in the Kourou and Cayenne Island sectors corresponds to Phase 2 of the Psage dengue “epidemic outbreaks” protocol, while sporadic cases continue to be identified in the Western sector and in municipalities in the interior.
