Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Despite a gradual improvement in the situation over the past few weeks, the dengue epidemic continues throughout French Guiana, which remains in Phase 4 of the PSAGE, except in the West where epidemic outbreaks have been identified (in St. Laurent and Javouhey) corresponding to Phase 2 “epidemic outbreaks” of the PSAGE. Serotypes DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 are co-circulating, with a strong predominance of serotype DEN-2. Given the overall epidemiological situation, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes.
