Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in French Guiana. Update as of December 23, 2013.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

In late November and the first two weeks of December (S2013-48 to 50), dengue activity remained at levels typically observed during the inter-epidemic period. The DEN-4 and DEN-2 serotypes were detected during this period. The DENV-4 cases were imported from Guadeloupe. Sporadic cases continue to be detected in the western sector, and outbreaks have been identified on the island of Cayenne. The epidemiological situation in the Kourou sector led the Committee for the Monitoring of Insect-Borne Human Diseases to confirm, on November 11, the presence of epidemic outbreaks in this sector. The ARS has implemented management measures corresponding to Phase 2 of the Psage** dengue program for the Kourou and Cayenne Island sectors and to Phase 1 of the PSAGE everywhere else.
