Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of October 1, 2020.
Epidemiological Situation
The epidemiological situation regarding dengue fever in Martinique continues to deteriorate. All epidemiological surveillance indicators are on the rise. With nearly 2,000 clinically suggestive cases recorded each week over the past four weeks, this 2019–2020 outbreak is the largest in the past 15 years, following the major 2010 outbreak, during which up to 4,000 cases per week were recorded at the peak of the outbreak. The mobilization of everyone to combat the resurgence of Aedes
aegypti mosquitoes therefore remains essential: destruction of larval breeding sites, personal protection with repellents, and the use of mosquito nets and electric swatters. Martinique remains in Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.
