Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of January 28, 2021
Key Points
Surveillance indicators in the community and in hospitals have been stable for the past three weeks (2021-01 to 2021-03). Since the epidemic peak observed in week 2020-40 (late September, with an estimated 2,000 or more suspected clinical cases), the epidemic has been in a downward phase with fewer than 100 suspected clinical cases recorded per week.
Despite this trend, it is important to remain vigilant and continue implementing preventive measures (destruction of larval breeding sites, personal protection with repellents, use of mosquito nets and electric fly swatters) to facilitate a swift transition out of the epidemic phase.
Martinique remains in Phase 4, Level 1 of the PSAGE* dengue alert system: confirmed epidemic.
