COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of March 26, 2021

Key Points

The epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 in Martinique is deteriorating. The rise in SARS-CoV-2 epidemiological indicators continues in this third week of March, reflecting an intensification of viral circulation in the region. The positivity rate in week 2021-11 was above the vigilance threshold, and the incidence rate was above the alert threshold. In terms of hospitalizations, including those in intensive care, activity remained high, with an increase in indicators compared to last week. In urban areas, outpatient visits were also on the rise. The UK variant is now actively circulating in the population, and low-level circulation of the Brazil and South Africa variants has been identified.

Individual preventive measures, including contact reduction measures and vaccination, must be reinforced.

The region remains classified as having a high vulnerability level.
