COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of October 30, 2020
Key points
Guadeloupe
All epidemiological surveillance indicators (biological, clinical, hospital-based, and deaths) for COVID-19 have been declining since the epidemic peak observed in mid-September. However, this decline has slowed over the past week. The peak of the second wave was reached in mid-September (week 38 of 2020). Since that peak, incidence and positivity rates have been gradually declining. A 31% decrease in the incidence rate and a 23% decrease in the positivity rate were recorded this week (2020-43) compared to the previous week (2020-42). The incidence rate among those aged 65 and older was 60 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Saint Martin
Epidemiological surveillance indicators have fluctuated over the past few weeks but have shown a stabilizing trend since mid-September (week 37). The positivity rate averaged 12% over the past two weeks. The incidence rate decreased in week 43 (78 per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 103 per 100,000 inhabitants in week 42). In hospitals, the number of emergency room visits remains low. The situation must be closely monitored in the coming weeks.
Saint-Barthélemy
Epidemiological surveillance indicators remain at low levels. Viral circulation appears low, but the situation must be monitored closely. Over the past 4 weeks, the number of cases has fluctuated between 3 and 10 cases per week, with a positivity rate ranging from 1.5% to 5.7% and an incidence rate ranging from 30.6 per 100,000 inhabitants to 102.1 per 100,000 inhabitants. Given the small size of the population, the incidence rate quickly exceeds the vigilance or alert thresholds.
