COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of October 15, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
The COVID-19 epidemic continued to decline in week 2021-40. From a virological perspective, with testing rates remaining stable, the positivity rate was below the alert threshold (5%) for the third consecutive week. Although declining, the incidence rate remained above the alert threshold. The 15–44 age group remained the most affected, particularly those aged 20–29 and 30–39.
In hospitals, a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations across all departments, in the number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19, and in mortality was still observed. Excess mortality, across all ages and causes of death, was recorded between weeks 2021-31 and 2021-38 (data currently being consolidated).
Saint Martin
The epidemiological situation improved slightly in week 2021-40 compared to the previous week. The positivity rate was below the alert threshold for the fourth consecutive week. The incidence rate decreased by 23% compared to the previous week.
In hospitals, the number of new hospitalizations and the number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 remained low and stable.
Saint Barthélemy
