COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of November 26, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
The social unrest that has been ongoing since the middle of last week has led to a sharp decline in the testing rate (2,590 per 100,000 inhabitants, a 42% decrease compared to Week 45) and limited access for patients to healthcare providers (in hospitals or community settings). During the three weeks preceding the protests (Weeks 43 to 45), the incidence rate tended to rise, increasing from 53 to 69 per 100,000 inhabitants, with an average testing rate of 4,149 per 100,000 inhabitants over that same period.
The epidemiological interpretation of the evolution of COVID-19 in Guadeloupe based on all available indicators is compromised. The epidemiological situation and the figures for surveillance indicators are therefore not presented in this epidemiological update.
Saint Martin
The circulation of COVID-19 was generally stable in week 46, with fewer than 20 positive cases detected, despite a declining testing rate. In hospitals, the situation was calm, with only one visit to the emergency room and a single new hospitalization for COVID-19.
Saint Barthélemy
The epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 remained stable at a low level: the incidence rate was stable despite a decrease in testing. No COVID-19-related hospital activity was recorded in week 2021-46. No clusters were identified.
