Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Dengue activity intensified throughout March across the entire territory of French Guiana. On March 25, the Monitoring Committee approved the transition to Phase 4 of the Psage "Epidemic" for the Western sector (see page 6). All sectors of the department are therefore currently experiencing an epidemic. It is not yet possible to announce that the epidemic peak has passed, as data for the last two weeks of March are incomplete. The DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4 serotypes are co-circulating, with a strong predominance of the DENV-2 serotype.Given the overall epidemiological situation, it is important to remind the public of the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites and taking personal precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
