Heat and Health

• There is currently no heat wave in Corsica, nor is one expected in the coming days. The last heat wave ended on August 29.
• Heat-related activity among emergency services was decreasing and remained in line with seasonal expectations. The rate of hospital admissions following visits to the emergency room remained high. No consultations for heat-related conditions were conducted at SOS Médecins.

Asthma at the Start of the School Year

• In S38, asthma-related activity among children under 15 decreased at SOS Médecins as well as in emergency departments, and activity rates were lower than those typically observed during the same period in previous years.

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

• In Corsica, since May 1, two imported cases of dengue have been confirmed (the most recent in Week 35).

Mortality

• During week 37, the number of deaths from all causes, based on INSEE civil registry data, remained within the usual range of fluctuation in Corsica.
• The number of all-cause deaths certified electronically in week 38 also remained within the usual range (as numbers are low and fluctuating in Corsica) (graphs not shown for either source).
