"It's essential to play down fears about child psychiatry" [Interview]
At the Créteil Intermunicipal Hospital, the child and adolescent psychiatry department has broken new ground by creating the position of family peer health mediator. Working alongside the healthcare team, she supports parents and children throughout their care journey, provides administrative assistance, and works with schools to ease tensions and ensure that children can continue their education. Drawing on her experience as the mother of a child with cognitive impairments caused by a neuromuscular disorder, the mediator creates a safe space for open communication and trust, which reassures families who are often at a loss.
