Key Points 

Heat and Health 

  • Since June 1, more than 3,900 emergency room visits (63% of which resulted in hospitalization) and 780 SOS Médecins calls have been recorded for the iCanicule composite health indicator (which includes hyperthermia/heatstroke, dehydration, and hyponatremia) have been recorded. The age groups most affected were those aged 75 and older (57% of visits and 45% of SOS Médecins calls), followed by those aged 15 to 74 (32% and 38%, respectively).

Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika

From May 1 (start of enhanced surveillance) to August 31, 2026, the following were identified in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes:

  • 15 imported cases of chikungunya;
  • 35 imported cases of dengue (43% imported from the Caribbean);
  • 0 cases of Zika;
  • no locally transmitted cases identified.
