Lessons learned from 20 years of AIDS campaigns.

Communication campaigns launched as part of the fight against AIDS have been a key component of France’s AIDS policy. The first national campaign dates back to 1987 and featured the following slogan: “AIDS won’t get past me.” The definition of communication strategies and their implementation has evolved since then and has been entrusted to various agencies. Initially managed by the French Agency for the Fight Against AIDS, this responsibility was transferred to the French Committee for Health Education in 1994, and then to INPES in 2002. INPES is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, responsible for implementing the prevention component of public health programs. The "Sexual Health and Prevention of HIV and STIs" program is one of the institute’s programs. This program includes communication as well as funding for grassroots initiatives, conducting studies, and providing prevention materials.[excerpt from communication]
