Sexually transmitted infections and HIV: Are sexual partners receiving care in France?
Most sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are asymptomatic or cause only mild symptoms. Preventing their complications and spread relies primarily on active screening strategies and on informing the partners of diagnosed patients. Unlike other countries, France does not have a legal framework or specialized personnel for the notification of sexual partners. In 2002, a study of physicians was conducted to describe how they manage sexual partners following a diagnosis of an STI or HIV.
