Key Points
In Week 10, all indicators rose again, with continued increases in critical care admissions and hospitalizations amid severe strain on hospitals and the spread of more transmissible variants.
Increase in the number of new cases, following a two-week plateau
Increase in the number of patients hospitalized and in critical care units
Continued improvement in all indicators among people aged 75 and older, consistent with increased vaccination coverage
COVID-19-related mortality remains high
Mainland France: marked increase in incidence across all regions (except Corsica and PACA)
Overseas territories: in Mayotte, a decrease in indicators; an increase in incidence in Martinique and French Guiana
Variants
Increase in the proportion of suspected cases of the 20I/501Y.V1 variant of interest to 72% (exceeding 50% in 91 metropolitan departments), stabilization of suspected cases of the 20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3 variants at 5%.
Prevention
Vaccination: 5,445,157 people (vaccination coverage of 8.1%) who have received at least one dose of vaccine
Importance of consistently following preventive measures and limiting contact
If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test must be performed as soon as possible
Need to continue identifying and controlling transmission chains
